“MY SUPPORTS”

            My family is one of my greatest supporters, they allow for me to go forward out of state in my field Of Early Childhood, and work for the Navy. Sometimes it is very difficult for me to be away from my husband, children, and grandchildren. I find myself crying and praying more each and every day, and because I work for the military I can understand what it’s like for soldiers to be without their families when they deploy. I thanks God for the support of my mother, and siblings, which are in other states, but they call me once a week and we connect a lot on Facebook. I must mention the wonderful support I receive from my staff also, my clerk who maintain the records of our families, the two leads on the floor who always inform me of issues, and I can’t for my awesome teachers, and professor who have supported my ideas as well as dreams. These folks have encouraged me to go forward in the thing that I have desired, and dream about.

To think about what it would be without the support I receive from my family, is really unthinkable, I don’t believe I would have made it. Support without my staff, I would not have the great program we have now, I would flop. Without my God I would have die a long time ago, because I have had support all of my life. This really makes me think about all the families that need great individuals in their life for support, if it was not for high quality educational and recreational programs for children and youth where would they be? I realize no one person can do with some support, it could be encouraging words to get you through High school, it could be someone helping you up the stairs because your legs don’t work they why they use to, or it could be someone showing you how to cope with the issues you may be facing, but we all need some type of support from others.  I leave you with these encouraging words as a mother from the Bible; PSALM 27:3, 5 but thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifer up of my head. HABAKKUK 3: 19 for the joy of the Lord is your strength. As a mother I can only pray I have supported my children in the things that make them enjoy life, as I have had support. We can make a difference together, so let support each other.  “We must be the change we want to see.”

           MY CHILDHOOD CONNECTION TO PLAY

As children growing up in the city of Detroit, Michigan I believe we had a great childhood, books to read, play cooking toys, and a guessing box full of small items. I and my sisters would play for hours; we would pretend to read to each other’s by looking at the pictures in a book. We would cook for our husband and children, I had eight, she had six children, and we had our own business (store) our families owned. I can’t remember all of my children names but each one of them had one, and I and my sister had a great time pretending.  Our feely box was magical, because everything we pulled out of it could talk, and told us a story.

Play energizes us and enlivens us. It eases our burdens. It renews our natural sense of optimism and opens us up to new possibilities.

Relationship and partnerships are very important to me because I have come to realize you need one another to build solid foundation. Meaning tradition, morals, goals, and a greater outcome when partnerships work together, really who don’t want help. As a child growing up my mother had help with raising us from her sisters, sister-laws, and my grandmother. I can remember the family gathers, and all the wonderful smells during the holidays around my home. So when I was married we made vows to always communicate to one another, and deal with life problems together as a couple, and family. I and my husband partnered with our children teachers to support our children as they develop. We also partnered with our local church in the neighborhood center to be a committed family, and support the activity for youth. It was not always easy raising four teens at the same time, but because of the relationship with our children we made it through and we have four wonderful adult children. Due to the partnership I and my husband have, and the knowledge I have gain as an Early Childhood Professional, I have use my skills to support my children during their early years. As a family involve with their children, teacher, pastor, and other family members it has made a difference in our lives and our children lives.

I do too believe we can learn a lot for those who work with children, and it starts from the beginning. In all areas of development we can learn something from the womb to birth to growth, and outside in the real world. Knowledge is and can be a great thing when applied, and things do change and we have to be ready for the change. As we all go forward in knowledge of goals, development, and growth in a field of Early Education let’s allow our self to help children and families as we go forward.
