EFFECTS OF STRESSORS in a CHILD

Effects of Stressors in a Child

We knew when she was 27; she had to tell my mother something very important. My oldest sister finely had the courage to tell our mother she was abused by some cousins. We realize then why she was so quiet all those early developmentally years, some of the family just thought she was just quite. I and my other sister thought she was just the quite one, and we always was loud, and had something to say. We did not know she had been silenced by secrets, of several unkind things which had happen to her as a 4year old. My sister must have hurt in silence for a long time before she could tell my mother, that along seems like she was in her own hell. She was able to tell once she turned 27years old, we don’t talk about what made her tell, but we let her know we are glade she told. We notice to that she would drink a lot as an adult, and never know why until she shared what had happen to her. The two people who hurt her are both dead, and it was something about them I never liked kin folks or not, I never felt safe when they were around our home, so how do you tell your parents something is not right with people. She was very withdrawn as a child, we never out going, and always wanted to stay at home. When she dated she would also make the guy take me along with them, and he would have to pay for both of our meals. I loved it, but I didn’t know she was hiding pain, and we as a family ask ourselves what we could have done to stay safe as children. My mother felt bad because it happen and she kept telling herself, “I never left you all alone for that reason.” I found out if sick individuals want to get you them have all kinds of way, and I’ve learn that since I been in the Early Childhood profession. My sister and the family have come a long way since 27. She has done very well for herself, and will be 50years old at the end of this year. She is still very quiet, and keeps to herself most of the time, but she venture out as much as she can.

Berger states, “Yet more children die from accidents and deliberate abuse than from any other cause.” (Berger, 2009) pg 236

Let’s look at the poverty of the world; A beginning step in the prevention of child psychopathology is the identification of conditions associated with a disproportionately high incidence of behavior problems. Rutter and colleagues (British Journal of Psychiatry, 1975, 126, 493-509) have reported a dramatic increase in the probability of child adjustment difficulties as a function of multiple family stressors. However, few investigators have tested this association beginning in infancy. The present investigation examines this relationship at the ages of 1 and 2 with behavioral adjustment at age 3 among 100 low-income families. Broad support was found for the family adversity hypothesis, though sex differences were evident regarding individual correlates of problem behavior. Breastfeeding

I was only able to breasfeed my last two children who were boys, and I had to fight a little to do that. My husband who I love dearly would didn't want me to, he though of shame first, and not what was best for the children. I had read a few books, and knew it would be the best thing I could do for my children. It was healthier for them, and I can say the two of them are very healtly today. As adults they don't like me talking about it it but I love to tell them I kept you alive as babies. I think it something about the USA, have a thing about feeding in public, but it's all kind of ways and support if you desire to breasfed your children too. I will be add some great links this weekend, looking forward to sharing.

One Out of Five

One Out of Five
Four births and five pregnancies we lost our first baby, but went on to have four more. I would like to share with you my first child that I birth and she lives. We name her Sherree LaJoyce, 8”6oz, and 21 in long. Let’s start at the beginning, after losing the first child I was a little scared about trying to get pregnant again. Our family encourages us to try again and we did, and after the doctor told us we were pregnant, I would watch what I ate, and I would not drink any soft drinks. I would eat a lot of salads, and a little pizza with extra mushroom. My doctor checkups were good, and I gain the two pounds every two weeks, until my last eight weeks. We were overseas in Japan and I went to my Air force doctor until I was 28 weeks. Then I went to the big hospital were the Navy doctors were and I had to see the doctor every week. He told me I was having a girl, and I told him, “No I’m having a boy.” There were many days I would read to my baby, sing to her, and I was around music all the time because my husband was a musician and I would sing in the choir. I would read birthing book so I would know how my baby was developing each week. My husband would yell at my belly and talk to the baby every chance he got. During my last weeks before she came into the world on June 27, 1986 at 7:00pm in Okinawa, Japan at the Lester hospital, and delivered by my doctor Dr. Butler of the United States Air Force. Everything worked out; my doctor was there to deliver my baby, my husband was there to help, and things went pretty fast. The day of her birth I went to the hospital early that morning but they sent me back home, and we were at home for maybe four hours and I told my husband take me back because I was hurting to bad. I was able to walk in the hospital while my husband parked the car, as I hugged the wall to go to the fifth floor to deliver  people asked to help they could see I was in a lot of pain, but I kept moving. By the time I got to the fifth floor my husband had made it too. After they checked me out they said,” I was 4 cem.”They put the monitor’s on to watch how I was progressing, and then I began to vomit, and they came in gave me a shot and it stop and I began to push, they call it crowning. They told my husband it will be around 11:00 that night, but my child had other plans. I could feel so much pressure, and I told the nurse I had to use the bathroom, and she let me get out of the bed to go to the bathroom.  Nothing came out, but I know I had to go, and the nurse asked me to come back to the bed, and I lost it, I told her all it takes is a little time and I’m not getting up. My husband and the nurse had to put me back on the bed, and the doctor came in and told me he was going to break my water but when he went to do it, he realize it was the baby head with a lot of hair. He orders me to the delivery room and they gave my husband the greens to put on. My husband was in shock and he was just standing there said,” You said it would be 11:00.” Still in shock he put the greens on and follows us into the delivery room. After the doctor did what he needed to do I pushed four times and my big baby girl was here, she was white and hair was all over her body. Three days later we took her home in a white track suit trimmed in colors, it was a girl. She was a quiet baby, and slept all night at 6 weeks. Hope you don’t mind me sharing my heart of my oldest child birth.

Having a Baby in Spain

You might think that having a baby in Spain is the same as having a baby in the UK or any other country, but there are a number of big differences. In particular, pregnancy and childbirth are a lot more medicalised here than in the UK - many more ante-natal tests are performed as standard, and intervention rates during childbirth are high.
As in the UK, maternity services and practices in Spain vary greatly from region to region. The following guide is based on expats' experiences in Malaga and Granada.

Spanish Maternity Services

As mentioned in the article about healthcare in Spain, most maternity services are not covered by a European Health Insurance Card, so if you are pregnant, or if you plan to get pregnant while living in Spain, get your social security or health insurance sorted out as soon as possible.
Once you discover you are pregnant, you need to make an appointment as soon as possible with your doctor. In some doctor's surgeries, there is a community midwife who deals with all ante-natal appointments so tell the receptionist that you are pregnant when you make the appointment.

    PERSONAL CHILDHOOD WEB

    PERSONAL CHILDHOOD WEB

My dad and mother took very good care of me; my dad never wanted my mother to work, because he wanted her to stay at home to raise the children.  She stayed at home for years until they divorced when I was 9 years old, but as I was living with both parents my grandmother also lived in our house to help care for the children. My dad being the oldest child in his family continue to bring his entire sibling up from the south in the 60”s to Detroit.  So my aunts and uncles were around in my life to support us as children too.  I remember waking up to breakfast being cooked every day and coming to the table for lunch were the family would gather to eat. When my dad would come home for dinner we would greet him at the door and he would take time to pick each one of us up, and there was always some candy in his upper pocket. After my dad and mother divorced she moved us to California were all of her siblings were and they were able to influence us with their family style.  After a few years in California our father convinces my mother to bring us back to Detroit, where we embraced our schools, neighbors, church, and YMCA.  I can still remember my best friend Carol and then middle school where my friends were like sisters, Rita, Tonya, Nina, and Lisa.  My teachers were awesome and I was blessed to have them in my life and what a difference they all have made to help create me.  When I get a chance to go back to Detroit I always go by my High school to see Ms Bass my English teacher in the 11th grade, she is a wonderful teacher who has encourage me to go forward and do my very best.  I can’t forget my Sunday school teacher who share her love to me for what she believe in, it compel me to follow God, and it was the best thing I could have ever done, thanks Ms Hop.
I can say I was daddy little girl, my mother great helper, and my Ma Dear’s first grandchild, and they have encourage me to do my very best in what every I desired to do.  My friends were the best, so I was able to trust people, but not all of my decisions were good, but I can say I have great friends.  The teachers in my life have supported me thru out my years, and given me their guidance to overcome some fears of school.  As a mother of 4 grown children, and a wife of 27 years, I’m grateful for standing on the things I believe in as a family. I remember what my father told me on my wedding day years ago, he said,” Sandra, I had one wife,” I guess it stand with me so I have always worked with my husband to make our family work.  It’s been over 22 year since he has pass, but somehow what he spoke to me that day will never leave me, thanks dad.

                                                              WONDERFUL CHILDHOOD

I had a wonderful childhooh growing up, I was born in Brenice, La and moved to Detroit, Mi when I was 2yrs old. Detroit was my home for 20yrs until I married Greg, since I have lived overseas for 12years and loved it, as a little girl I love the book , "Dirty Harry." I think I wanted a dog as a little girl and me and my sisters love to play outside in our back yard. We made mud pies, played on the swing, and when it rained we would put on our swim suits and run around in the rain. Our father would take us to the park to eat watermelon, and to the drive-in to watch movie outside. I believe I always wanted to work with children, because I love to have fun and do different activity with children. I love the way my  children would draw a picture of our family and included pets, when they knew we were not getting any pets because we travel around alot as a military.
