MEANINGFUL CODES OF ETHICS

WHICH ARE SIGNIFICANCE TO ME AS AN EARLY CHILDHOOD PROFESSIONAL

NAEYC & DEC code of ethics are a large part of my profession as an Early Childhood professional.  I have responsibilities to children, families, colleagues, and community to do the right thing to all who are involved. At all times I will be committed to my profession to support ethical responsibilities, and I will never share confidential information about children and their families. As an Early Childhood professional I ‘m obligated and mandated to do the right thing. I am required to provide high quality care for all children in my care.  Children should be cared for in a safe, clean, nurturing environment. I will commit myself to promoting children self-awareness, self-worth, and support them as they develop. I will also support collaboration, communication, and cooperation between families and my program. Interaction of care givers and team building will be what I embrace in the workplace to support children development. We will be a program that meets the diverse needs of our community, and collaborate with organizations and other professionals. As an Early Childhood professional I will support children development, and families’ relationships with care givers.

I will always look for other resources to promote learning in Early Childhood Profession.

        My dad and mother took very good care of me; my dad never wanted my mother to work, because he wanted her to stay at home to raise the children.  She stayed at home for years until they divorced when I was 9 years old, but as I was living with both parents my grandmother also lived in our house to help care for the children. My dad being the oldest child in his family continue to bring his entire sibling up from the south in the 60”s to Detroit.  So my aunts and uncles were around in my life to support us as children too.  I remember waking up to breakfast being cooked every day and coming to the table for lunch were the family would gather to eat. When my dad would come home for dinner we would greet him at the door and he would take time to pick each one of us up, and there was always some candy in his upper pocket. After my dad and mother divorced she moved us to California were all of her siblings were and they were able to influence us with their family style.  After a few years in California our father convinces my mother to bring us back to Detroit, where we embraced our schools, neighbors, church, and YMCA.  I can still remember my best friend Carol and then middle school where my friends were like sisters, Rita, Tonya, Nina, and Lisa.  My teachers were awesome and I was blessed to have them in my life and what a difference they all have made to help create me.  When I get a chance to go back to Detroit I always go by my High school to see Ms Bass my English teacher in the 11^th grade, she is a wonderful teacher who has encourage me to go forward and do my very best.  I can’t forget my Sunday school teacher who share her love to me for what she believe in, it compel me to follow God, and it was the best thing I could have ever done, thanks Ms Hop. 

I can say I was daddy little girl, my mother great helper, and my Ma Dear’s first grandchild, and they have encourage me to do my very best in what every I desired to do.  My friends were the best, so I was able to trust people, but not all of my decisions were good, but I can say I have great friends.  The teachers in my life have supported me thru out my years, and given me their guidance to overcome some fears of school.  As a mother of 4 grown children, and a wife of 27 years, I’m grateful for standing on the things I believe in as a family. I remember what my father told me on my wedding day years ago, he said,” Sandra, I had one wife,” I guess it stand with me so I have always worked with my husband to make our family work.  It’s been over 22 year since he has pass, but somehow what he spoke to me that day will never leave me, thanks dad.

                                                          WONDERFUL CHILDHOOD

I had a wonderful childhooh growing up, I was born in Brenice, La and moved to Detroit, Mi when I was 2yrs old. Detroit was my home for 20yrs until I married Greg, since I have lived overseas for 12years and loved it, as a little girl I love the book , "Dirty Harry." I think I wanted a dog as a little girl and me and my sisters love to play outside in our back yard. We made mud pies, played on the swing, and when it rained we would put on our swim suits and run around in the rain. Our father would take us to the park to eat watermelon, and to the drive-in to watch movie outside. I believe I always wanted to work with children, because I love to have fun and do different activity with children. I love the way my  children would draw a picture of our family and included pets, when they knew we were not getting any pets because we travel around alot as a military.
